GMT-6 hrs.
No visas necessary for UK or Irish passport holders. Carnet not needed, but
importation of vehicle is free, and very simple. Bizarre "exit tax" of about
$20pp is payable on leaving the country (at least you are informed about
this when entering). Internet in every town. Not very good roads, but the
main routes are ok.
Extremely friendly people - most people wave as you drive past, everyone
wants to stop and chat. One of our favourite countries, despite it's being
expensive, and despite lukewarm reports from other travellers. |
